I’ve generated tables for a complete butt plug size comparison! This quick-reference guide includes basic dimensions: maximum diameter, insertable length, and neck drop-off percentage for all butt plugs in my collection.
All plugs included here are body-safe and don’t leach plasticizers (as PVC toys do). And, they have substantially flared bases to prevent the plug from getting pulled accidentally into the rectum and beyond.

Butt Plug Dimensions Sorted by Width
Here, I’ll group similar anal plug types together, since super-soft plugs – once inserted – may compress to feel marginally smaller vs. a firm butt plug of equal dimensions outside the rectum. Size dimensions from narrowest to widest:
Firmer Butt Plugs: Firm Silicone, Weighted Silicone, Stainless Steel
All measurements given in inches. Multiply by 2.54 to get cm. “Max. Diam.” is “maximum diameter” (for the insertable portion of the plug, not its base).
Neck drop-off percentage matters because it directly relates to how easy a plug is to wear. If you want to walk around without a plug sliding out, it must have >40% reduction (for firmer butt plugs) from its widest bulb section, to its neck girth. More on butt plug components & smart design here.

Super-Soft Plug Dimensions
Super-soft silicone plugs are just that: very soft. If you like a wider stretch, super-soft toys are more comfortable. I am the biggest fan of the Egg Plug for all-day butt plug wear.

Super-soft plugs, interestingly, can get away with a lower drop-off percentage and still be wearable, as your sphincter muscles tighten around the more-compressable material. I prefer over 33% drop-off, with L/XL Egg being my favorite (38.8% thinner neck). If you’re newer to anal, the small Egg Plug is excellent and my recommendation.
Prostate Vibrating Butt Plug Dimensions
Prostate plugs are best-suited for wear at home, resting in bed for best results – if P-spot orgasm is your goal. There, your mindset matters, as prostate O’s and “super O”s are easier via relaxed breathing techniques – and perhaps a touch of THC pre-game.
But if prostate teasing stimulation on the go is your aim, however, the We-Vibe Vector or P-Spot Massager has suitable drop-off. So, neither should slip out if you’re standing and walking.
Or, for no-noise prostate massagers you can wear out, see the Milk’It plug. It’s 1.7″ diameter side-to-side, though its back prostate point expands to 2.15″ across (expansive, more pressure).

How to Size Up Safely
Go slowly, and use enough good anal lubricant – don’t push too far, too fast.
“Slow and steady” means safer, as you move into larger anal toys.

Butt Plug Dimensions: Length
Most anal plugs are intended to fit within the rectum only (including the anal canal), but are not for deep colon play. For example, the longest easily wearable butt plug is the Charlie Horse Wiggly: 7.9 inches insertable length, so it’s just beginning to probe the depths!
Because: You typically have at least 6 inches penetrable length (some people may have 7.5″+!) before you reach the sigmoid bend of the colon – there, at that depth, you must either:
- stop and use toys less than that length,
- or educate yourself how to progress into colon play / depth play safely.
