The Egg Plug by SquarePegToys is the one plug you have to own if you like softer silicone. The first 100% super-soft + platinum-cured plugs, Egg Plugs were released in 2009.
In 9 sizes, each Egg Plug has a smooth ovoid bulb with a slight taper. They’re designed as a progressive set, so you can easily and safely move through the Egg Plugs as you stretch anally. I did that, except switched to SquarePeg’s wider-necked Blunt Plugs for a few sizes – and now have gone back and picked up the 2 new colors (+ small sizes I skipped) to complete the set.

Egg Plugs’ diameter, insertable length, and neck width for each of the 9 Egg Plug sizes by SquarePegToys. (“Diameter” is abbreviated to “Diam.” below, and “Circumference” is abbreviated to “Circ.” below.)
Because the “Egg” in each Square Peg plug is oval / “ovoid,” not spherical, it’s marginally wider top-to-bottom (same direction the anchor base runs) vs. left-to-right – hence, two maximum diameters taken at the same Egg Plug cross-section. All dimensions given in inches. Multiply by 2.54 to get cm.

*Insertable length is hardest to measure, as it cannot be placed directly within calipers. Therefore this metric may vary up to 0.15″ from what you’re able to take while sitting on top of the Egg Plug. My measurement aims from A.) the tip to B.) the highest part of the anchor base where it meets one side of the Egg Plug’s neck.

My Egg Plug Progress & Favorite Use
Summary: L/XL Egg Plug is my current favorite for wearing all day long. But, I like wider butt plugs than most. The small Egg Plug is a good starter size if you’ve used an anal trainer kit prior, while the medium size Square Peg Egg fills the same as an average-girth (about 1.5″ diameter) dildo or human penis.
The Egg Plugs’ XX-Large sizes are an experience in filling satiety: you’re stuffed. I’ve gotten to the 3XL Egg for over an hour wear. Insanely filling. I’m looking to manage the Monster Egg safely in time.

Anal width stretching is a form of exercise, so like exercise, you want a good workout, but you can also hurt yourself if you overdo it by really tearing muscles. Best to take a break from wider stretching for 2–3 days after you reach a new fullness level, for example. And as with weightlifting, it’s easier to do more reps if you’re not maxxing out: That’s why I like the L/XL Egg for wearing for over 3 hours. It’s like a lighter weight that my ass can retain, no pain. (All fun.)
I first got a medium Egg Plug from SquarePegToys six years ago. I wasn’t into any big toys thne, so I thought I’d been over-ambitious. The medium’s not a small size. But when I felt the silicone, pulling it out of its labelled bag, I noticed how soft it genuinely is. “SuperSoft” is an accurate descriptor, so I decided to try warming up and using it, see how my hole would receive it.
I relaxed physically, and mentally. Chilled. Greased up the Egg Plug. Took my time, watched some porn while lying on my side, one leg up, inserting slowly… and my ass started sucking the Egg in, with a minimum of pressure from my palm under the base. It felt heavenly.
I haven’t looked back: the Square Peg Egg Plugs are simply, my all-time favorites. Out of all the plugs I own (except the Pure Plug 2.0, but that’s for shorter-term weight.) You will want to wear often, and may find you enjoy wearing the Egg Plug long-term during the day like I do.
Egg Plug Design
The Egg Plug’s design is dare I say sophisticated. It looks simple, but it’s all in the details: Why I think this one is the best butt plug to wear for hours.
The Egg itself is smooth, and wider top-to-bottom – the direction in which it’s easier to expand anally (vs. left-to-right). It has a slight taper. You’ll want to warm up, stretch with fingers or a smaller plug pre-insertion, if you’re not used to its maximum width. When moving a larger size Egg Plug, anything above the Medium, I do warm up first: pre-gaming. (And of course remember to lubricate well.)
The “neck” drops off significantly right under the Egg. That’s so that the Egg Plug will give your sphincter muscles space to contract around it, aiding in plug retention. (So the Square Peg Toys Egg Plug is less likely to “pop out” if you’re wearing it around.)
The neck is long enough on each Egg Plug to enable retention, but not let your sphincters fully close (like in the Snug Plug). With the Egg Plug, you get more stretched fullness vs. Snug Plug.
Then, the neck expands to meet the base. It’s a clever “anchor” shape, distinct due to the two angled tabs. These lift slightly into your crack on one side, and cradle your perineum on the other. On the larger Egg Plugs, you’ll see the tab-size difference better. The more extensive tab lifts to sit better between the cheeks, encompassing your whole anal region. Superb. You can also flip it around 180° to touch the perineum, but don’t expect this gentle silicone to be firm “acupressure” like Aneros names their P-tabs. Rather, the Egg Plug’s silicone is soft, smooth, caressing and stimulating via filling you.
Egg Plug Size vs. other Butt Plug Classics
The Egg Plugs and the Blunt Plugs (also by SquarePeg) are the most similar. The advantage of a Blunt Plug is, it keeps your sphincters spread wider, so it’s good warmup for thrusting sex. While the Egg Plug is easier to wear around during the day. Both lines of platinum butt plugs are the same SuperSoft silicone, so comparing is easier:

Converting from Super-Soft silicone to harder materials – steel or firm silicone – isn’t exact. If you’re not very new to anal, you may safely manage an Egg Plug that’s 0.4″ to 0.5″ diameter wider (about 1.25″ to 1.55″ circumference more) than your closest firmer butt plug. That’s in contrast with normal safe-stretching guidelines: Don’t increase more than 1″ circumference / 0.32″ diameter (or less) as you step-up in size. It’s because the Egg Plug’s super-soft silicone compresses more easily as you gradually insert it. It’s normal to think SuperSoft feels a fraction smaller, once inserted, than it is outside the rectum.
It’s not an exact science converting between firm materials and super-soft silicone. Comparing the Pure Plugs (another Butt Plug Classic) is manageable, but the Pure Plugs’ weight covers so much less space inside. So, anyone ass that can comfortably take an XS Egg should be OK with the medium Pure Plug. And any ass comfortable with a Small Egg Plug should be OK with the large Pure Plug. And as for the 2.0 Pure Plug (XL): It’s feasible after the medium Egg, but easier after the large Egg Plug.
SuperSoft vs. Firmer Black Silicones
I can’t recommend the SuperSoft silicone enough because it’s easier to wear. It just feels better remaining in your ass for hours, warms and becomes almost like part of the body.
But SquarePegToys has a “firmer black” density too. Firmer can mean “easier insertion” if you’re going slowly with the XS Egg Plug because you’re new to anal plug wear. It’s medium-firm actually. Tantus’ Firmer density is harder, for example.
I’ve also read several opinions that the Charlie Horse Milk’It’s P-spot teasers work more effectively in Firmer Black silicone than in SuperSoft – so this is worth checking out if you know you want the extra pressure. SuperSoft in contrast is a “lighter touch.”
