Sometimes, life gets in the way. Recently I took an unintentional break from my anal play & stretching pursuits. Now, I’m working on getting back in the game, and wanted to share my re-up journey. Let’s explore:
- Is it as difficult to stretch the anus and sphincter muscles after a break, as it was the first time you got into anal?
- How long does your butt stay stretched out, really, after you’ve gotten up to a large butt plug size? Is anal stretching permanent?
Taking a Break from Anal Play
I knew something was up, when last month I couldn’t get my Njoy Pure Plug 2.0 inside.
That thing feels like a beast inside, dominating P-spot pressure. Hmmm. I missed its heavy steel.
Then, my L/XL Egg Plug – previously my favorite wearable butt plug of all time, was feeling like too much to wear for more than an hour. And this is **the softest** butt plug, so – yeah, it was me.
It was my sphincter muscles, I realized. I’d been pulled away from frequent all-day plugging + my weekend fun-times by work travel and family obligations, after last summer. My anal training had slipped.
The fact is: your anal canal’s surrounded by the sphincter muscles. These two rings of muscle tissue are like any other muscle group: If you don’t use it, you lose it.

I wanted to get back into that supreme stretching feel, now that I’m in a more relaxed place again in my life.
Anal Stretching, Take Two:
Re-stretching my ass for has seemed easier this time, and I’m certain that’s because I know approximately how fast my progress should occur.
It’s the knowledge in my head that’s changed, more than my muscles.
I didn’t go back to square one, of course – I was still taking above-average plugs, just not as giant as I managed over a year ago.

In short, you always want to give your bod enough time to size up, safely. Never push butt plugs in, and don’t jump up more than 1″ circumference from one toy to the next size up – sometimes even less. Listen to pain & discomfort signals. Be aware of what’s happening down below, the best you can.
I’m not 100% back up to speed, and that’s OK. At first, only the Medium size Egg Plug was cushy. Now, I’m comfortable with Large again, and probably will work up to L/XL size by mid-February. (Full dimensions for the Egg, here.) My Pure Plug 2.0 is now do-able again – this took me a solid 6 re-training sessions, spaced out over 3 weeks. Huzzah. Honestly, it’s better than before because it feels more like the first bliss of new anal stretching, amazing.
Anal Stretching Is Not Permanent
Anal stretching is not permanent. Your hole will gradually begin to shrink down, toward its original never-stretched size. You may get nearly back to your OG hole size, if you take a break for many months to years.
Everyone’s body will be slightly different, in terms of how fast the change goes. I found that it takes 6 weeks of minimal-play time to see negative gains in anal stretching.
That means, after two months your hole probably will not expand as easily as it once did.

It may take between 12 and 18 months to see full regression, so that anal entry is almost like a “virgin” state. I cannot say I’ve gone this far, nor would I want to for many years to come!
In summary: When you train your ass for expansive anal stretching, it is not a permanent change – unless you seriously go too hard, don’t listen to your body’s signals, and you damage something internally. (Play safe!) Gradual stretching, and plenty of lubricant, will prevent against anal fissures, micro-tears, and hemorrhoids – all possible with excessive, too-fast, and drunk play.
Steps for Moving Back Up in Size
In the end, it feels normal and natural to go through different periods where you might back down to smaller toys, and then maybe you want to go back up again in the future.
I’m not saying that everything is a cycle, but I know that part of being an adult is that sometimes we don’t get to have as much fun as we’d like to.
I’m just glad that my butt muscles are up to the challenge of being trained – always remembering the safe stretching steps (WHOLES).
I also like that this break made me think about:

Expansive Girth, vs. Anal Pressure, vs. Anal Vibration
The 3 different kinds of butt plug pleasure are from thickness, pressure, and vibration:
- Thickness: The pleasure of anal stretching and width expansion. Super-stretcher plugs are best in super-soft silicone, since you get this gentle softness. It’s fab, feels really natural for wide plugs.
- Pressure: The pleasure of weight & firm P-spot stimulation. Weighted plugs can have internal weights like the Snug Plugs, be solid & heavy like Pure Plug’s stainless steel by nature, or have a curve + firm reinforced cored like in Lovense Edge and its prostate bulb.

Why choose, is my take. I like all 3 kinds of anal stimulation, for different results. If I had to choose, I say the Egg Plug for just wearing around long-term, or the Pure Wand for all-time prostate best orgasms.
